Abstract
Bekker compares the specificity and sensitivity of the RPCF test with that of the Treponema pallidum inactivation test (TPI). In sera from 700 treated and untreated probable syphilitics the RPCF gave a sensitivity of 96.3%, the TPI 92.9%. In sera from 700 presumably non-syphilitic patients the RPCF gave a specificity of 97.7%, the TPI 99.7%. It is concluded that the RPCF test is a reliable test in the sero-diagnosis of the treponematoses, and can easily be used routinely in serologic laboratories. Keywords
