Abstract
Two methods of magnitude estimation were compared with each other. In one condition subjects made a numerical judgement of a series of taste stimuli. In the other condition the same subjects were required to express their intensity judgement by matching the length of a line to it. The resulting exponents of the two psychophysical power functions did not differ from each other. The meaning of this result is briefly discussed. Keywords
