Abstract

Postoperative anorectal bleeding episodes (43) were encountered in the treatment of 4059 anorectal operations, an incidence of 1.06%. Of the postoperative bleeding 1/3 occurred within the first 48 h and reflects technical errors; nearly 1/2 of the bleeding occurred from postoperative days 7-11. The cause of this delayed bleeding remains obscure.
