Abstract
Two protein fractions, required for the carboxyla-tion of acetyl CoA, were partially purified from extracts of Escherichia coli. One fraction, Ea, contains biotin and forms Ea-CO2[long dash]in the presence of ATP and MnCln2. The other fraction, Eb, is required for carboxyl transfer from E -CO,[long dash]to acetyl CoA, forming malonyl CoA.Keywords
