Abstract
Numerical values of the partition function, magnetic moment, entropy, and temperature derivative of the entropy are tabulated for free paramagnetic ions with j = 1/2, 3/2, and 5/2. These tables are needed in connection with experiments on adiabatic demagnetization. As a byproduct, the thermodynamic functions for an Einstein oscillator are computed numerically to a higher degree of accuracy than in the tables available in the literature.Keywords
