Abstract
A review is given of the recent progress in the use of nqr, nmr and epr for the study of soft modes in order-disorder and displacivc type solid ferroelectrics. The study of the soft modes and symmetry recovering Goldstone modes in liquid crystalline ferroelectrics where-in contrast to solid ferroelectrics-a discrete symmetry group is broken at the phase transition temperature is as well reviewed. The evidence for central modes obtained from the dispersion of T 1 between O and 60 K Gauss in KD2FO4 NaH3(SeO3)2 and several liquid crystalline systems is discussed. Keywords
