Abstract
Summary Recognition of rectocele as a cause of anorectal pathologic changes in women is emphasized. It is advised that the rectocele be repaired at the time of surgery for the anorectal disease. An analysis is made of a series of patients who underwent hemorrhoidectomy and fissurectomy during a five-year period. Forty per cent of those who underwent hemorrhoidectomy and 46% of those who underwent fissurectomy underwent repair of an associated rectocele at the same operation. Keywords
