Abstract
Three optical configurations for achieving high brightness liquid crystal projection displays are demonstrated. In both approaches, the two polarization components of unpolarized input light are effectively used resulting in an excellent light modulation efficiency. The advantages and disadvantages of each approach are analyzed. Keywords
