Abstract
It is found that an effective way to obtain a, good power factor with a thyristor-controlled load is to use a parallel-connected uncontrolled resistive load of similar rating. The use of parallel-connected capacitance alone gives no significant degree of power-factor improvement, even when the capacitance is adjusted to the optimum value for each step of thyristor firing angle.Keywords
