I have described five elderly patients who had a syndrome characterized by reversible delirium, automatic movement, and anterograde amnesia after ingesting triazolam as a hypnotic. These cases raise concern about the use of short-acting, rapidly eliminated benzodiazepine hypnotics in the elderly. Keywords
