Physics calculations for preliminary feasibility studies of fusion blanket testing in ETR

Abstract
Testing fusion components in a fission reactor would provide a timely and workable approach to finding solutions to some of the engineering problems which must be solved before the next generation of fusion reactors can be built and operated. Hypothetical irradiations of three fusion first wall/blanket systems in the Engineering Test Reactor (ETR) are analyzed. The ability of reproducing, in a fission environment, the bulk heating spatial profiles anticipated in a fusion environment is demonstrated.
