Abstract
Summary We describe a method for the direct selection ofE. coli mutants restricting efficiency of suppression and misreading levels using a T4-coded nonsense suppressor. One mutant isolated has the phenotype expected for a restrictive mutant and may be ribosomal. Other possibilities are discussed. Keywords
