Abstract
The reactions brought about when phenothiazine radical cation or phenothiazinium ion in acetonitrile is treated with aqueous solutions of various pH-values have been studied by spectroscopic methods. The proposed structure of a green dye which is formed under various conditions by the oxidation of phenothiazine has been confirmed. Evidence has been obtained about the modes of interconversion of phenothiazine and its oxidised derivatives. Keywords
