Abstract
Saliva and several reagent solus. were tested to determine their value in protecting powdered dental enamel against solubility in weak organic acids. An unfiltered 1/500 Stannous fluoride soln. was found to be most effective in this respect. It was also shown that UO(NO3)2 solns. when placed in contact with powdered enamel also reduced its solubility. Using the Geiger-Miiller counter it was shown that the UO(NO3)2 which was picked up by the enamel was tenaciously retained even after attempts were made to remove it by washing the treated enamel. Keywords
