Abstract
Using a model of electrons trapped in image-potential-induced surface states, I have calculated the mobility of electrons moving parallel to the liquid surface in high electric fields. To obtain agreement with experiment, it is necessary to include a large number of quantum levels of the electron motion perpendicular to the liquid surface. As the electrons are heated by the electric field they populate these higher states. Keywords
