Abstract
As part of a randomised controlled trial of vacuum extraction and forceps delivery we compared the experiences of women during labour, delivery and the immediate post-partum period. Immediately after the trial the views of midwifery and medical staff about the 2 instruments were also investigated. Women allocated to vacuum extraction reported less pain at delivery but had more worries about their babies. Those who cared for them reported a range of attitudes to the 2 instruments, but the majority said that the experience of the trial had influenced their views. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
