Abstract
A novel combination of corona discharge with a sonic nozzle has been explored as a molecular beam source of excited helium atoms. Time‐of‐flight velocity distributions for the excited species have been determined as a function of discharge current. The device has the advantage of simple construction along with the other desirable characteristics of nozzle sources. Keywords
