Abstract
Activities of GAPDH, GDH, LDH, MDH, T-1CDH, D-ICDH, G-6-PDH, and ME2 were assayed in extracts of non-pigmented and pigmented cells prepared from ciliary processes of single bovine eyes. Results were correlated to cell count (levels of activity) and protein extracted (specific activities). Levels of activity were lower in the pigmented cell type, specific activities higher. There was a relative lack of MDH, ME, GDH, and T-TCDH in the pigmented epithelia compared to activities of LDH, G-6-PDH, GAPDH, and D-ICDH. This difference (or analogy) in enzyme distribution is discussed in terms of cellular physiology. Keywords
