Abstract
Positron annihilation has been used in a study of the annealing of molybdenum samples after room temperature deformation to a reduction of 16%. Isochronal annealing of these samples produced changes in the positron annihilation characteristics from which it was possible to identify the defect mechanisms involved in the different annealing stages. The results were consistent with monovacancy migration in Stage III (150°-250°C) but of particular interest was the conclusion that the vacancy clustering led to void formation during the recovery as in the analogous neutron and electron irradiation experiments. Keywords
