Abstract
The hematologic findings in a case of kala-azar under the influence of specific treatment are described. The type of the anemia, the hyperplastic bone marrow, the increased urobilinogen output before treatment, and the subsequent changes following treatment strongly suggest increased red cell destruction (most probably by phagocytosis) as the cause of the anemia. Keywords
