Abstract
An expression is derived for cell permeability which is evaluated for 2 cases, a layer of olive oil 50 A thick and a layer of oil having a viscosity 106 times that of water. Comparison with typical cells such as the erythrocyte indicates that an effective model of the cell membrane requires a viscosity about 105 times that of water. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
