Abstract
The stratigraphic series in the Palazzo Adriano area comprises formations ranging in age from Permian to Mio-Pliocene. The Permian formation is present as sedimentary klippen in the Triassic flysch deposits. The highest stratigraphic unit, which probably represents the lower part of the evaporite series, is overridden by the Pizzo Mondello structural unit in which are represented all the stratigraphic units except the evaporites. The Monte Rose unit is primarily composed of Triassic rocks and is thrust over the Pizzo Mondello unit and the evaporite series. The last tangential movements responsible for the thrusting probably occurred at the end of the Miocene. Keywords
