Abstract
Non-equilibrium thermodynamics is applied to the experimental data of a ternary osmotic system. In order to prove whether the membrane is symmetric or not, a theoretical treatment up to second-order phenomena has been derived, which is based upon certain ideas of Haase and Sauer. The transport system can be described by linear constitutive equations which fulfill Onsager's reciprocal relations. Keywords
