Abstract
The problem and the solution. Metaphors are found in the language of HRD and applied in HRD research, practice, and education. Despite having been analyzed in associated disciplines (such as HRM and psychology), relatively little attention has been paid to their use, role, and impact in HRD.This chapter acts as a foundation for the journal by describing metaphors, how they work, and why they are important. It also offers a frame-work of questions for exploring metaphors and their application. Keywords
