Abstract
The equilibration of cis and trans isomers of 2‐3‐ and 4‐methylcyclohexanols is performed by the action of Raney Nickel in the presence of hydrogen. Conformational equilibrium between the two chair conformations possible for each alcohol explains the results. Also cis‐ and trans‐3,3,5‐trimethylcyclohexanols are equilibrated. It may be possible that the trans‐3,3,5‐trimethylcyclohexanol is not present entirely in the chair conformation. Keywords
