Abstract
An unusual organism, Bacillus rotans (p.234), has been observed on agar plates streaked with the excreta of termites. Young colonies exhibit either a rapid migratory mobility or a rotary motion when they are growing on the surface of nutrient agar. While the mobility is strongly suggestive of that in the Myxobacteriales, the absence of fructifications and the ability to form endo-spores and flagella justify introduction of the organism into the genus Bacillus.
