Abstract
There is much literature on description and treatment of tumors of the parotid gland. As, to our knowledge, fatty infiltration of the parotid has not been described in the English literature, the following case is unusual. REPORT OF A CASE A 30-year-old American Indian developed a swelling just beneath the lobe of her left ear three months prior to admission to the Tacoma Indian Hospital. This gradually increased in size from a few millimeters to the present size of 3 cm. and caused protrusion of the ear lobe. The mass had never been tender or red or had any period of rapid enlargement. No history of trauma was elicited. On physical examination, the patient was 61¼ in. (155.6 cm.) tall and weighed 124 lb. (56.2 kg.). A mass 3 cm. in diameter extended from behind the lobe of the ear to the posterior border of the ear to the protrusionKeywords
