Abstract
Significant differences in body size resulted between 2 strains of rats by brother-sister matings for 13 generations. The postabsoptive metabolic rate per rat was greater for the heavier strain, but the metabolic rates per unit weight and per unit surface area were lower for the heavier strain. No consistent correlation between rate of growth and metabolic rate was found. Keywords
