Abstract
Aided by suprapubic surgical access, after-loading transperineal 192Ir wire implantations were done for prostatic cancer in 16 patients, with major complications in 3. Personnel exposure is reduced, and, more especially, precision and flexibility of dose control and source geometry are improved. The technique is thought to render permanent implantation with grains or seeds obsolete.
