Abstract
To the Editor: In the April 6, 1978, issue of the Journal Bibbo et al. reported the cancer incidence and mortality experience of a cohort of women exposed to diethylstilbestrol in a clinical trial in 1951–52.1 We cannot agree with the authors' conclusions that there is "no striking difference in the health histories of mothers exposed to and those not exposed to diethylstilbestrol."To illustrate our reservations Table 1 presents a chi-square analysis of the cancer-mortality data provided in the article with the point estimate of the relative risk, and the 95 per cent test-based confidence intervals.2 It is apparent that exposure . . .Keywords
