N.M.R. SPECTRA OF TIN COMPOUNDS: II. Sn119 AND H1 MAGNETIC RESONANCE SPECTRA OF HEXAMETHYLDITIN

Abstract
The H1 and Sn119 resonances in hexamethylditin have been examined. A coupling constant J = 4400 ± 70 c.p.s. is reported for Sn117—Sn119 nuclei directly bonded. Comparison with some other heavy metal couplings is made. Changes in bond type of the Sn—C bond in hexamethylditin from tetrahedrally bonded tin compounds with no Sn—Sn bond is indicated by an anomalously low value for JSn–C–H•
