The Peyer’s Patches as Thymus-Independent Lymphoid Tissue

Abstract
Comparisons of the Peyer’s patches of thymectomized and/or adrenalectomized mice during graft-versus-host reaction indicate that most of the damage is secondary to the immunologic assault. These findings are compared to previous studies of lymphoid tissue damage during graft-versus-host reaction and are discussed relative to the thymus independent nature of the Peyer’s patch tissue.
