Abstract
From a Dutch viewpoint English growers have hitherto been sheltered by the quota system, competition has been limited and prices have depended on the size of the home crop. The Dutch on the other hand, facing competition from Italy and Southern France, have been obliged to modernize and intensify in order to stay in business. UK growers are urged to profit from Dutch experience during the interval before they have to face the full brunt of European competition. Keywords
