Abstract
A pilot test was conducted to evaluate phosphine gas as a fumlgant for insect control in bucket elevators in rice mills. The fumigations resulted in fair to good control of artificial infestations of rice weevils, Sitophilus oryzae (L.), and red flour beetles, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst). Further tests should be conducted to evaluate phosphine more thoroughly for bucket-elevator fumigation.
