Abstract
A review is given of the literature on potentially harmful extra-auditory effects of noise on the organism. Evidence is presented to illustrate how noise, acting as a nonspecific physiologic stress, can alter endocrine, cardiovascular, and neurologic functions and also cause biochemical changes having possible health significance to workers in noisy industries. Keywords
