Abstract
Xylaria acuta, X. cornu-damae, and X. mali are re-described and discussed; cultural phenomena and anamorphs are described for the former two species. These species have been confused with X. digitata, a species which probably does not occur in North America. Their possible relationships with X. digitata are discussed. Xylaria adscendens, not reported from the United States, is re-described and discussed because of its possible close relationship with X. mali. Keywords
