Abstract
RNase isolated from human urine is a glycoprotein of MW 33,000. The purified enzyme inhibited the stimulation of 3H-thymidine uptake into lymphocytes by phytohemagglutinin, pokeweed and concanavalin A, growth of pancreatic fibroblastoid cells in in vitro cell culture and growth of colonies in bone marrow cell cultures. RNase levels in the uremic patient varied from 9500-35,000 U/ml (normal 1041 .+-. 247). Serum RNase levels were unaffected by dialytic procedures. RNase glycoprotein may represent a large number of nondialyzable high MW uremic toxins. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
