Abstract
A modification of the Kober reaction which omits the phenol reagent is described. Simplicity, rapidity, and reproducibility of data are claimed. Beer''s law is obeyed between concns. of 10-60 [gamma]. Absorption curves with estrone, alpha-estradiol and estriol arc presented. The method is as follows: Add 2 ml. of H2SO4, to the sample (containing 10-50 [gamma] of material) dissolved in 0.4 ml. of ethanol and heat the tube in a boiling water bath for 6 mins. Remove the tube, add 8 ml. of H-,SO4 (25 + 75) and reheat in boiling water for 3 mins. Cool and read in a photometer using a 5100 A filter. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
