Abstract
The soil of the river bed exposed in June, became covered with plants of common terrestrial weed species by midsummer. An analysis revealed four distinct plant communities each associated with a particular substrate. Textural differences resulting from sorting of material at the time of maximum river flow separated the communities. Also, organic matter as well as potassium and magnesium content contributed to differences in soil which were reflected in the plant communities. Keywords
