Abstract
To assess the relationship between birth weight or birth length and the corresponding velocities of growth in infancy and childhood, 3995 subjects, followed longitudinally, were studied. Pearson correlations indicated no significant relationship between birth size and velocity in infancy, between birth size and velocity in childhood, or between velocities of growth in infancy and childhood. The only correlation that approached any significance suggested a tendency for subjects who gained weight faster in infancy to gain weight faster in childhood. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
