THE EFFECT OF DENERVATION ON NAIL GROWTH

Abstract
In 10 patients with uncomplicated peripheral nerve injuries, nail growth was retarded in some cases but not in others. Superimposed arterial ligation consistently and markedly retarded nail growth. The vascular situation was not entirety responsible for the retardation since the latter outlasted circulatory embarrassment, the non-denervated digits of the same hand were not affected, and nerve recovery restored normal growth.
