PSEUDO-PSEUDOHYPOPARATHYROIDISM: REPORT OF THREE CASES IN ONE FAMILY

Abstract
The cases of a mother and 2 sons are reported in which the patients demonstrated the physical stature, skeletal anomalies, and round face characteristic of pseudo-pseudo-hypoparathyroidism. Six additional cases, close relatives of the patients (not examined by the authors), are reported to have similar skeletal disorders. Pseudo-pseudohypoparathyroidism and pseudo-hypoparathyroidism are clinically similar except that in the former the serum Ca and P are normal whereas in the latter, the serum Ca is depressed and the K elevated. The recent reports describing pseudo-pseudohypoparathyroidism occurring in more than one member of a family has stimulated an interest in the genetic aspect of this order.
