Abstract
The results of a study intended to characterize the properties of CW 10.6-μm waveguide power amplifiers are reported. The analysis considers both single- and double-pass devices, and includes the effects of gain narrowing and power broadening. Experiments on a 1.65-mm-bore device with an active length of 77 cm have been performed. Gains as high as 17 dB/m have been measured at room temperature. Keywords
