Abstract
A well-crystallized sodium super ionic conductor (NASICON: Na1+ x Zr2Si x P3- x O12, 0≤x≤3) was synthesized by a sol-gel method from aqueous solutions of inorganic materials with an Na excess stoichiometric composition at a relatively low temperature of 850° C. A trace of monoclinic ZrO2 was observed, however, with increasing calcination temperatures up to 1000° C. It was found that the process of making sol from solutions was the most important step to reduce secondary phases such as ZrO2. NASICON thickfilms were also fabricated on a quartz substrate by a spin-coating method using a paste made from fine xerogel powder and isoamyl alcohol. Keywords
