Abstract

It is argued that the charge dependence of the nuclear force (

V_{nn \neq V_{np^{s}}}

) can be accounted for exactly in triton binding energy calculations to first order in the difference

V_{nn - V_{np^{s}}}

by replacing the

{}^{1}S_{0}

interaction by the potential combination (2/3

V_{nn + 1) / 3 V_{np^{s}}}
