Extinction factors in startle (acousticomotor) seizures

Abstract
Controlled stimulus patterns in startle (acousticomotor) seizures led to a rise in seizure threshold. This extinction effect is correlated with similar studies in human photogenic epilepsy and in musicogenic epilepsy. Sensitivity to a previously neutral stimulus (intermittent light) was produced by a Pavlovian conditioned procedure. These observations enhance the concept that special sensoryevoked seizures may exist on a higher nervous system basis.
