Abstract
We consider the evolution of configurations in a layered feed-forward neural network. Exact expressions for the evolution of the distance between two configurations are obtained in the thermodynamic limit. Our results show that the distance between two arbitrarily close configurations always increases, implying chaotic behavior, even in the phase of good retrieval. Keywords
