Abstract
Fertilized chicken eggs were exposed for 3 to 12 hr. to different concentrations of cyclopropane on different days of the 1st third of the incubation period. The concentration of cyclopropane in the embryo after 3 to 6 hr. exposure was about 50% of that in the ambient atmosphere. On the 4th day of incubation, exposure to cyclopropane for 6 hr. leading to cyclopropane concentrations of 10-20% and 20-30% in the embryo, significantly increased the incidences of abnormalities and mortality, respectively. A significant increase in mortality was also seen if duration of treatment was continued for 12 hr. at 10-20%. Abnormalities were more frequent after treatment on the 4th day; death after treatment on the 6th day. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
