Abstract
A spin one-half spin-one lattice gas model is introduced to represent liquid crystal mixtures. The Ising-like hamiltonian is solved in the molecular field approximation. The model describes the interplay between phase separation and nematic ordering. It can be applied to the description of liquid-solid equilibria in ordinary binary mixtures : a large variety of phase diagrams is reproducedKeywords
