Abstract
Until recently, applications of carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers in industry have primarily used high-power laser systems for cutting and welding. Today, the most rapid growth rate is occuring in applications of small, sealed laser systems to soldering, wirestripping, marking, sealing, degating and slitting of a wide variety of materials. In the future, small CO2 laser based systems will be in use in shopping centers and department stores, and unit sales will be in the multiple thousands per year.Keywords
